Qualification:-

  • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery/ Degree in Basic BSc. Nursing
  • Certificate course in quality control nurse

DESCRIPTION:
  • Plan, organize and direct nursing department quality operations and activities.
  • Plan and implement quality risk management programs to meet the needs of the nursing department.
  • Evaluates programs and effect changes as needed to improve quality nursing programs and assure nursing compliance with hospital requirements, hospital standards policies and procedures, job descriptions and NABH standards.
  • Select, train, orient nursing personnel and staff in nursing programs in assigned areas with appropriate personnel and maintain nursing quality, professional growth and development.
  • Monitor and supervise nursing quality work and ensure nursing job descriptions are in accordance with their job satisfaction.
  • Maintains the established hospital and nursing department policies and procedures, mission, vision, values statement, goals and ensures all nursing staff understands the essence and works for its attainment.
  • Keep nursing administration informed of nursing quality activities, needs and problems.
  • Review data related to nursing care indicators, normally in conjunction with the nursing staff and Quality Nurse Link.
  • Establish and maintain tracking systems for nursing quality activities.
  • Investigate nursing problem areas and follow – up on proposed corrective actions.
  • Coordinate concurrent review studies performed with in the nursing quality improvement problems.
  • Communicate new and revised program objectives to nursing management to maintain awareness, interests and commitment.
  • Maintain close liaison with other hospital departments to assure coordination, standardization and continuity of quality improvement programs.
  • Providing risk identification and control through analysis of incident patterns.
  • Prepares resulting nursing quality reports as requires.
  • Attends required meetings and participate in all nursing committees as required and as directed.
  • Organize and or activate nursing quality management/ improvement committees that will work on the nursing quality/ management programs and activities.
  • Identify patients and family’s needs for education then provide the patient and / or his family with the necessary information regarding illness and the required care, diet restrictions, basic infection control guidelines, treatment explanation, use of medical equipment and how to carry out ADL.
  • Respect the patient rights according to the hospital policy and inform him about his responsibilities when needed.
  • Participate in all quality management/ improvement activities within his/ her department.
  • Be aware of standards precautions for infection control and implement the infection control guidelines in his day to day activities.
  • Performs other duties when needed necessary as assigned by the Matron for the nursing department.
  • To carry out nursing quality a mandate, the department must work in close association with the quality management, utilization review and audit committee as well as with other medical staff committee and most hospital departments to which collaboration and cross functional activities are required.
  • Ensures that all staff knows and understands department policies and procedures concerning CPR, fire, disaster, emergency codes etc.
  • Follow all ACCREDITATION BODIES STANDARDS (e.g.NABH) related to his/her day to day work and participates actively in quality and performance improvement activities as guided by the Total Quality Management Department.
