Qualifications & Experience A laboratory assistant quality manager must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a science or quality management specialty.
The number of years of relevant work experience
Requirement of certification of IA QMS as per ISO 15189 standards guidelines.
Key relationships
Internal: Doctors, Nurse, Laboratory staff, in addition to Lab supporting services( IT, Biomedical, HK, Maintenance, HR , CSSD, IPD & OPD)
External: NABL/ NABH, Quality relevant work at region, state and national level for training and education purpose.
Job responsibilities
Performs duties as assigned or requested by the Laboratory Director or designate
- Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
- Ensure that the process needed for quality management system are established implemented and maintained as per ISO 15189 standards.
- Reporting to laboratory management, at the level at which decision are made on laboratory policy, objectives and resources, on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement.
- Ensuring promotion of awareness of users needs and requirements throughout the organization as per ISO 15189 standards
- Effectively interact with laboratory personnel and other stakeholders to ensure all quality requirements are addressed and maintained.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation.
- Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated. Any modifications to these will need to be investigated and assessed prior to activation.
- Supervise technical staff in carrying out quality checks for the test performed.
- Write technical and management systems reports.
- Bring together staff of different disciplines and driving the group to plan, formulate and agree comprehensive quality procedures as per the accreditation standards.
- Manage and maintain Laboratory’s quality audits.
- Formulate and manage the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems pertaining to QA/QC.
- Set QA compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved.
- Maintain awareness of the business context and Laboratory profitability including budgetary control issues.
- Formulate standards and establish clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply.
- Define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff as per the quality policy of the laboratory.
- Set up and maintain documentation procedures and document controls.
- Ensure the execution of root cause analysis and creating the relevant corrective action documentation addressing any discrepant situations.
- Manage preparation for and logistics of onsite accreditation surveys for relevant areas of laboratory.
- Develop, review and monitor the Quality policies and procedures for the laboratory.
- Coordinate and facilitate project teams to promote quality care for the laboratory.
- Utilize information regarding patient safety, accreditation, clinical risk management, patient experience and clinical outcomes to address clinical quality concerns for the laboratory.
- Manage quality and patient safety teams to implement quality initiatives
- Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
- Identify relevant quality-related training needs and deliver the training to the laboratory staff.
- Collate and analyze performance data and charts against defined parameters
- Organize and manage the internal and external quality assurance programs in close co-operation with the Laboratory Director and Medical Director.
Knowledge and specific skills Knowledge and practice of ISO 15189 standards related to laboratory
Knowledge of internal and external quality audits for the laboratory.
Knowledge to meet expectation of laboratory related to quality requirements pertaining to ISO 15189 standards
Knowledge of NABL/NABH
